Here are some funky results from a great shoot I had with London based Willie Nash. I’ve been a fan of his work for a few years now, it’s gorgeously surrealist, dark and intriguing – check out his website – www.willienashphoto.com. He builds awesome sets in his studio for each shoot, using weird props and backdrops, lots of symbolism, it’s up to you how you choose to interpret it all 🙂
The oddness and stark nudity in first shot reminds me of something from Bosch’s painting The Garden of Earthly Delights. In the second I’m sprawled out awkward, hanging in the poisoned agony of death.
I love the sickly feel of all of them – sickly but beautiful. The portraits below are my favourite, gorgeous hair & make-up by Keelie Velvet Primrose. I adore the colours and the lighting, don’t think I could have wished for a more perfect beauty shot. For some reason it reminded me of a character first referenced in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet – ‘Queen Mab’ ; a tiny fairy who creeps into men’s minds at night to induce dreams and sometimes brings the plague.
‘Her wagon-spokes made of long spinners’ legs,
The cover of the wings of grasshoppers,
The traces of the smallest spider’s web,
The collars of the moonshine’s wat’ry beams…
…And in this state she gallops night by night
Through lovers’ brains, and then they dream of love’
I’m not sure yet which I should use in my portfolio, any opinions will be much appreciated so let me know what you think 😉
