Hey everyone! I have lots of models pictures to post here but first I’m gonna shove in some of my holiday pictures from my lovely getaway to Rome and Venice recently. What a week!! 🙂 Let me tell you…
Oh my goodness, Rome really is the most amazing place, so jam-packed with everything of the highest calibre. The ruins are immense, with so many different sections, and so vast and atmospheric. The streets and buildings are beautiful everywhere from interesting detail in narrow alleys to fabulous fountains to giant blinding white palaces. And the churches are collosal, monstrous, huge, unbelievable!! So rich and golden, mosaiced and glittering. In the museums the 3D like paintings on the ceilings and frescos seem to crawl down the walls towards you, and the sculptures with billowing cloaks, wings spread, sad or frightening but beautiful faces and blank eyes of mystery. I was floored. Everything is there… history, beauty, heart, soul, delicious food, wine!! Truly even more amazing than you could imagine!! 😀
And then we travelled on the train to the shimmering lagoon of labyrinthine streets, oppulant beauty and cooling serenity that is Venice…. the canals and bridges so tranquil compared to the busy, buzzing roads of Rome, so a lovely second part of the holiday. The air fresh and cool from the aqua water, the pastel buildings still dazzling in their faded glory, restaurants and bakeries serving delicious food and the shops, oh the shops! Beautiful jewellery, murano glass, delicate lace and of course – the venetian masks!! I wasn’t prepared for just how many mask shops there would be everywhere, with SO many to choose from – ones with long pointed snouts, medusa type hair, feathers, horns, elaborate intricate gold/silver veils, animal faces, crystals, rhinestones… oh my gosh, my eyes were wide! Unfortunately the ones that were just my taste were the most expensive but I treated myself to a couple for modelling, and also a small porcelain one to go in my home, and I’m gonna save up to go back and get one of the giant beautiful wall-piece decorative masks to have one day 🙂
So thank you Italy… for the astonishing unbelievable, visual treats, not to mention the mouth-watering foody feast of delicious fresh food, gelato and wine aplenty. That’s now FOUR Italian cities I’ve made it to this year – including Florence & Pisa in June, wowee!!! Happy Holly! Great memories to last a lifetime ♥
